Similar story, steam version of game & proton experimental, could play for days after league launch before the crashing started.
Beforehand I had some weird performance issues with vulkan and deleting shader cache did help for a moment before the stuttering begun again.
Tried switching to dx12 and the performance was better for a while.
Seemingly after some hotfix patch the game begun to crash very shortly after launching and this behaviour reoccurs with many retries with every renderer. Tried verifying game data, clearing shader caches and.
Now recently I tried deleting production_Config.ini, ran the game and so far no crashes.
Not sure if it actually was the solution or full moon and star alignments did the trick, but now I've been playing for hours without problems.
- OS: Fedora 43 (KDE)
- Kernel: 6.19.9
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti (580.142)
- RAM: 32GB
Can you tell exaactly where that file is which you deleted which fixed the problem? I tried to look for it in game dir but didnt found it. And if you game now not crashing anymore after the fix?
"My Documents\My Games\Path of Exile\" in windows so:
"~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/238960/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Path of Exile/"
Don't know why but I went from constant crashes to no crashes at all after deleting the file. I understand this could be all coincidence but so far so good for me.

Unfortunately this didn't work for me, as soon I step into a map a start walking, the game crashes. I was able to level to 90 with no crashes but since last 2 days, I'm unable to finish a single map.

Sorry for being a bit inconsistent here but be sure to delete the shader cache folders at "%appdata%\Path of Exile\" or "~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/238960/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Path of Exile/" together with the config file.

I was able to play multiple days with pretty much no issues at all.
Today it started all over again.

Yea same here. Crashes are again pretty constant as of last night and today.
Does support ever respond in these threads? I wonder if they can offer any help.

Since the issue seems to start at roughly the same time for many or all of the people experiencing it, or since everyone is having the same problems, I’m increasingly convinced that it’s either a server-side issue or a problem with the game itself... i have no idea.
And unfortunately, no.
I haven’t seen a single post from a developer here. Not one.

This is getting unbearable :(
Still no clue what is causing the crashed in any logs.
