Cold Resist in Act 1
|
Given that Count Geonor can be challenging for new players, I think it is an unusual oversight or decision to make T7 Fire resist available on equipment at item level 12 (Ogham Farmlands) but T7 Cold resist isn't available until item level 14 (The Manor Ramparts).
As a consequence, Unique monsters starting in the Hunting Grounds (like Crowbell), Rare monsters in Freythorn, The King in the Mists, etc all start biasing towards Fire resist (it is twice as likely to get a Fire roll than it is to get Cold at item level 12). I think it would be more natural for the game to bias towards Cold resist at this point in character progression. The non-rare monsters that can deal fire damage at this point are Iron Thaumaturgist's Fireball, The Executioner's Mega Slam, and Candlemass. Last bumped on Apr 5, 2026, 8:31:23 AM

That's what rings are for but I've done runs where I haven't gotten a second ring until act 3.
