What happened to the trial effect on my Twilight wings?

Last league my Twilight wings had a cool orange trail on them when I moved much like the Sunrise wolf pet does. Now nothing.

I'd like to know why this was removed, and if it can be reimplemented?

It honestly feels like the MTX I really spent quite some money to get has been bait and switched.
